Community Store

Across Country Construction (ACC) was proud to deliver the refurbishment of the Nauiyu Community Store following extensive flood damage, restoring an essential facility that plays an important role in the local community.

Located in the remote community of Nauiyu in the Northern Territory, the project required careful planning, strong coordination and efficient delivery to overcome the logistical challenges of working in a remote environment. From organising freight and materials to managing specialist trades, every stage of the project was carefully coordinated to keep construction progressing efficiently. Through this approach, ACC completed the refurbishment in approximately half the originally anticipated construction timeframe.

The project began with a complete internal strip-out, allowing the building to be assessed and prepared for reconstruction. From there, the store underwent a full transformation, including the installation of new internal wall and ceiling systems, commercial flooring, waterproofing and tiling, painting, cabinetry, kitchen reinstatement, plumbing and electrical services, security upgrades, and external building improvements.

ACC also coordinated the installation and commissioning of specialist mechanical and refrigeration systems, ensuring all building services were fully integrated and operational before handover.

Delivering projects in remote locations requires more than construction expertise. Manager’s Residence

Across Country Construction is proud to be delivering the restoration of the Store Manager's Residence in Nauiyu, returning an essential staff residence to a safe, comfortable and functional home for the community.

Working in remote communities requires careful planning, reliable logistics and experienced coordination. As head contractor, our team is managing every stage of the refurbishment, from mobilisation and demolition through to the final finishes, ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with Australian Standards and Northern Territory requirements.

The refurbishment includes extensive internal and external upgrades to address weather-related damage and improve the longevity of the residence. Externally, this includes landscaping, damaged tree removal, fencing repairs, replacement of weather-affected cladding and soffits, external painting, new windows, and replacing ageing box air conditioning units with modern split systems to improve comfort and energy efficiency.

Internally, the residence is being transformed with new flooring, fresh paint, replacement doors and frames, and complete upgrades to the kitchen, laundry and bathroom. New cabinetry, waterproofing, wall and floor tiling, modern fixtures and quality finishes will create a practical, durable home suited to the demands of remote living.

The home's essential services are also being upgraded with new electrical wiring, switchboard improvements, lighting, smoke alarms, ceiling fans, a replacement hot water system and renewed plumbing throughout. These improvements will ensure the residence is safe, reliable and built to support long-term occupancy.
